George Edmundson points to Rangers team unity with all-in approach in face of handshake ban

Rangers defender George Edmundson has sent a message in response to the SFA's and SPFL's recent handshake ban.

The measures have been taken to try to limit the spread of coronavirus , which has caused chaos for sporting events in other countries.

In Italy, Serie A will be played behind closed doors until April 3 and people in Lombardy and several other regions have been quarantined.

Today it was announced that France's Ligue 1 will be played behind closed doors or be limited to attendances of under 1,000 until April 15.

That will also affect Les Bleus' friendlies against Ukraine and Finland this month, which will either be postponed or subject to the same restrictions.

The situation hasn't reached those levels in Scotland though and Edmundson made clear that the outbreak won't stop him from shaking hands.

The centre-back is quickly becoming something of a cult hero at Ibrox, having replaced Nikola Katic at the heart of Steven Gerrard 's defence.

He was praised on social media for staying out to applaud the fans following the 1-0 defeat to Hamilton on Wednesday night.

Edmundson has been nicknamed 'The Fridge' by Rangers fans for his impressive stature.
