George Clooney: Watch the moment Hollywood star crashes motorbike into car in Sardinia

Footage has surfaced of the accident which saw a scooter driven by George Clooney collide with a car in Sardinia.

The Hollywood star can be seen being thrown from the vehicle in security footage obtained by Italian outlet Corriere Della Sera 

He was taken to hospital after the accident which occurred on his way to the set of forthcoming miniseries Catch-22, an adaptation of the Joseph Heller novel.

While his injuries were not serious, local newspaper La Nuova Sardegna reported that the actor-director, 57, was taken to the nearby John Paul II hospital's emergency room.

The publication later shared a photo of the purported accident site on social media.

The incident took place at around 8am local time as he was leaving his hotel in Costa Corallina in the north of the island. The Oscar-winning star was discharged within hours of the accident. 

Catch-22 will see Clooney play US Air Force commander Scheisskopf in the World War II drama opposite the likes of Christopher Abbott, Kyle Chandler, Julie Ann Emery and Hugh Laurie. Clooney will also serve as the series' director.

The forthcoming six-part drama is set to air in 2019 on channels Hulu and Channel 4.
