George Clooney REFUSES to be godfather to royal baby Archie and this is why

George Clooney has taken himself firmly off the royal baby godparents' list.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have had a life-changing 24 hours with the arrival of Baby Archie , but their famous pal joked on US chat show Jimmy Kimmel 'don't call me'.

So when it comes to thinking about godparents the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won't be able to rely on the actor.

Plans for a christening are now in motion but Hollywood star George has said that it would be a "bad idea" for him to be considered for godfather duties.

George and his wife Amal have close links to to the pair, with them being invited to the royal wedding and Amal organising Meghan's baby shower.

Speaking during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, George was forthright with his desire to be ruled off the list, saying that he is 'struggling' to parent his own twins.

George replied to the host's question about whether he would be available by saying: "That would be a bad idea. I shouldn't be the [godfather]. I'm a father of twins I can barely do that."

As if to clarify his position, George insisted he would turn down the role: "I'm not going to be the godfather. I promise you that. I'm fairly sure."

Harry and Meghan shouldn't be too down heartened though as George said he "should not be anyone's godfather."

George also had a wry smile when he confirmed that he now shares a birthday with the new royal and that it may have changed his birthdays forever.

Speaking about his celebrations this year, George said: "Yeah, that kid stole my thunder."

It will be a feeling that George may have to get used to from now.
