George Clooney hints Matt Damon could buy a house in Ireland after his 'fairytale' stay this summer

George Clooney revealed Matt Damon could be set to buy a house in Ireland, after his ‘fairytale’ time in Dublin this summer.

The Bourne Identity star was the talk of the town this year, as he and his family made Ireland their home when they got locked down in the capital in the height of the pandemic.

And longtime pal and fellow Hollywood star George said we could be seeing a lot more of the actor in the future.

Speaking to Plan B host Sarina Bellissimo on SPIN 1038, he said: “I talked to Matt while he was there, he absolutely loved being there, and you know with Matt, you never know, he could just buy a house there.”

Clooney is currently promoting his new sci-fi movie The Midnight Sky which he both directs and stars in.

His full interview will air on Plan B with Sarina Bellissimo on Saturday morning, 10am – 12pm, on SPIN 1038.

Matt Damon in Dalkey, Dublin (The Country Bake)

Damon was left stranded in Dalkey with his wife, Luciana Barrosa, and their children, Isabella, Gia and Stella, and took up residence in Eddie Irvine’s house when filming was abandoned in March.

The actor proved a massive hit with locals during his stay over lockdown and became somewhat of a temporary national treasure in the midst of lockdown.

He told Spin 1038 in May: “It’s been incredible. This is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been.

“Obviously what’s going on in the world is horrible but I’ve got my whole family; I’m with my kids and we have teachers with us because we were planning on missing school for about eight weeks.

“It feels like a fairytale. When I first came in, people were saying well, ‘Bono lives over there, Enya lives over there’.”
