George Bowie is set to get behind the decks for a GBX fundraiser, in a bid to support a new youth hub for teenagers in Maryhill.

Over 70 youngsters currently benefit from the G20 Youth Club, however, without a permanent base to call home. As such, they are forced to hold events outdoors and at the local meadow.

In a fundraising bid, the group will host the G20 Youth Festival with all money raised from the event going towards the their efforts to secure a new youth house within Maryhill.

And legendary Glasgow DJ George Bowie will belting out the tunes at the event, at the Community Central Halls on Maryhill Road a week on Friday, September 6, between 8pm and 10pm.

Organisers told Glasgow Live: "George has very kindly gifted us his time for the event.

"The event is for all ages and as such will be an alcohol free event.

"Our youth group has also been busy making some jewellery and designing tote bags to sell at the event. We will also be sealing juice and snacks.

"All money raised from the event will go towards our youth group and help us to secure a new youth house within Maryhill. This will allow us to provide a free safe space for the young people that we are currently working with and allow us to provide more activities as we have been working out of the north Kelvin Meadow and Children's Wood for the last 14 months, totally off grid and outside.

To find out how you can get involved in the event and rave away to George's tunes, visit the youth club's Facebook event page, HERE.

Tickets, which are £5 each, plus service charge, can be purchased HERE.
