George Bowie 'has butterflies' as he plays first GBX gig since lockdown in Glasgow

GBX host and Clyde radio DJ George Bowie admitted to some last minute nerves as he played his first official live gig since lockdown in Glasgow.

The production talent and much loved breakfast host said it felt weird playing to a proper crowd after a year and a half of having to do virtual gigs on his balcony at home.

And George, who got the sell out crowd buzzing at Generation GBX in SWG3, made sure he played some of his huge anthems as well as hits that he'd not managed a chance to play live over the last eighteen months.

Speaking yesterday, George said: "I always get nervous before I go on and I've got butterflies tonight.

"It's a sell out crowd but it's weird that everyone is seated and not allowed to dance. It's all outdoors but its as close as we have to normality at the moment."

George played for an hour and a half at the event and made sure he played the big tunes.

He said: "We made a lot of tunes during lockdown and there have been hits we never had a chance to play like Take My Hand and Yes Sir, I Can Boogie which went to number two.

"I've just remixed new songs for Nina Nesbitt and Texas and we will be playing these tonight too.

"Obviously we will need to start the set off with Bits And Pieces. I'm absolutely buzzing and it's great to play with my mask off outside too."

George added: "The whole crew and everyone who has gone on has played a blinder and its amazing to get the whole team back together."

Onlookers admitted the gig was emotional as people could be heard singing out loud to their favourite anthems.
