George Best 'True Genius' documentary to premiere on BT Sport

Calum Best has voiced his pride at a special new documentary about his father George.

'George Best: True Genius' will premiere on BT Sport later this month and will chart the Belfast football legend's career.

Presented and narrated by Calum, it will feature rare and never-seen-before archive footage.

'True Genius' will be shown on May 26 on BT Sport 1 HD, just after the Europa League final between Best's former club Manchester United and Villarreal.

It is also just four days after what would have been George's 75th birthday.

Tweeting about its forthcoming release, Calum said: "Really proud of this one."

The latest BT Sport film promises to offer "a close look at the career of one of the greatest players ever".

It will also feature new contributions from Rodney Marsh, Pat Crerand, Alex Stepney, Paddy Barclay, Antonio Simoes and youth team-mate Willie Anderson.

'True Genius' aims to celebrate Best's achievements on the pitch, including lifting the European Cup with Manchester United in 1968 and the Ballon d’Or that same year

Calum also said: “It’s an absolute honour to be part of this film, that I hope will introduce my dad to a new generation of footie fans.

"BT Sport Films’ George Best: True Genius delves into his life both on and off the pitch underlying his status as the greatest footballer to come out of the United Kingdom."
