George Best’s son Calum designs 'listening bench' to encourage mental health conversations

The son of famous Northern Ireland footballer George Best has designed a 'listening bench' to try to get more people talking about their mental health.

TV personality Calum Best has spearheaded the East Belfast bench as a fitting tribute to his late father.

It's part an ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain's award winning 1 Million Minutes campaign to end loneliness.

The bench in tribute to Manchester United legend is located beside the EastSide Visitor Centre on the Newtownards Road.

In a tweet, Calum wrote: "Was a pleasure creating a #listeningbench for @itv in Belfast. I hope the design and idea welcomes people to sit down and share a convo or listen to someone else. Please head down and see the bench beside @EastSideVC! #BestSeattoChat".

Michele Bryans, Chief Executive at EastSide Partnership added: "Loving our new @ITV #listeningbench designed by @CalumBest, a fitting tribute to his late father & local legend #GeorgeBest. Pop along & see the bench beside @EastSideVC! #BestSeattoChat."
