Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers could face Tommy Fury or Anthony Taylor in new boxing career

Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers will make his boxing debut later this year, with an eye to an eventual celebrity fight with Tommy Fury or Jake Paul in the future.

The reality TV personality has been fighting for a number of years after making his MMA debut in 2017, going 5-2 in top promotions like BAMMA and Bellator before hanging up his 4 oz gloves earlier this year.

He has since moved over to the boxing ring, moving in with Olympic medalist and interim world featherweight champion Michael Conlan and training out of Adam Booth's gym in Surrey.

The Newcastle native has said that he plans to fight one or two journeymen to gauge his level before moving on to fight a celebrity, with YouTuber Paul and Love Island star Fury both on his radar.

Speaking after watching his teammate Conlan win his homecoming bout with TJ Doheny in Belfast on Friday night, Chalmers talked about his reasons for making the switch, saying he never loved the grapping aspect of MMA.

"I've been down training for about nine months," Chalmers told Mirror Fighting in an exclusive chat after the fight.

"I'm training with a great group of lads at Boxing Booth and an incredible coach so hopefully it won't be long now until I can get in the ring and start enjoying myself."

Chalmers is hoping to build on the celebrity fighting craze that has seen the likes of the Paul brothers, KSI and a number of other stars make their professional debuts.

But he wants to see where his ability lines up before he steps into the ring with a well-trained celeb in a massive money bout.

"The celebrities are always going to be there," he explained. "That seems to be the in thing at the moment celebrity boxing.

"Don't get me wrong, those are big money fights and I'd be silly to say that I don't want one of them, but they will come down the line.

"Maybe not the first two or three, but I would like to get a few fights in and then snap them up because it's money isn't it?"

And one prospective opponent could be his old MMA rival Anthony Taylor, who faces Tommy Fury on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley later this month.

The pair had agreed to fight in the Bellator cage, but it never came to fruition due to the uncertainty of fights in the early part of last year.

But they were in contact recently, with Taylor testing the waters on a potential match-up a few weeks ago which Chalmers didn't take seriously.

"He messaged me about six weeks ago saying give us your number," Chalmers said. "I'm looking back now thinking b****** I should have given it to him.

"He'll be there again, Tommy [Fury] will be there, so I'm not too worried, what will be will be... Anthony is a funny guy!"
