Marine Simpson and Casey Johnson’s wedding day has been cancelled as the pair have had their dreams for a huge, laid-back celebration dashed by Covid-19 rules and regulations.
The 29-year-old Geordie Shore star and the 26-year-old former X Factor contestant have been e ngaged since August last year.
But their plans for a huge ceremony and celebration have been put on ice as continued Covid restrictions have pt an end to their dream ideas.
Marine – who shares a one-year-old son named Rox with Casey – has decided to pull the plug on their planned wedding that had been due to take towards the end of the summer.
A source told OK Magazine: “Marnie planned her wedding for this August and even sent out invites.
“She had already booked the venue, started organising her wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, cakes and flowers. But with the Covid restrictions not being lifted in time, she’s decided to put it off until next year.”
Marine had previously discussed all her dream plans for her big day with the outlet back in May – explaining that a string of reality star, including Charlotte Crosby, Chloe Ferry, Sophie Kasaei, Nathn Henry and Holly Hagan, were all on the guest list.
A dream venue had been found, wedding dress shopping was complete, and decoration details had been finalised.
But with restrictions on weddings and general day-to-day life still unclear as the Covid-19 pandemic continues, the bride-to-be has opted to delay the ceremony until it can be guaranteed a good time can be had by all.
The source continued to OK: “Marnie wanted a really relaxed and fun wedding where people can enjoy themselves, and as it stands this wouldn’t be the case.
“She feels she won’t be able to enjoy it as there are certain restrictions currently in place, such as only the bride and groom being able to dance.
“And she’ll be worrying that her friends and family won’t be able to let their hair down and enjoy the day, too.
“She’s gutted it can’t go ahead, but because the rules are ever changing, it could get to the day before her wedding and the country could be heading into another lockdown.”
At present, rules relating to weddings and receptions in the time of Covid in England include the fact that there are no limits on the number of guests who can attend – as long as the proceedings are held outdoors or in a Covid-secure public venue.
Social distancing is enforced, table service is mandatory, and singing and dancing is restricted.
Face coverings are also mandatory for all while indoors – except for those with a valid exemption, those aged 10 or under, and can be removed only if eating or drinking.
Rules vary in other parts of the UK – with gatherings restricted to just 50 in some parts of Scotland, celebrations can only be held in regulated venues, like hotels, in Wales, and the wedding couple an have only one dance in Northern Ireland.
