Geordie Shore's Holly Hagan scared to leave house after being abused in street

Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has revealed she was scared to leave the house on her own after receiving vile abuse in the street as the show shot her to fame nine years ago.

Along with the likes of Charlotte Crosby, Gaz Beadle and Vicky Pattison, Holly was one of the original cast members on the MTV show, back when it launched in the spring of 2011.

It got everyone talking, with many people in the North East angry at the way it portrayed the region. And Holly, now 28, has revealed she was subjected to awful comments from locals on home turf.

Holly revealed how bad things got while appearing on Geordie Shore's new spin-off show Their Story this week.

The programme sees a whole host of well known cast members opening up about the time both on and off Geordie Shore and Middlesbrough lass Holly recalls the dark side of her teenage stardom in the latest issue of New magazine saying: "I had 99.9 per cent negative comments in the beginning. Every time I left the house, somebody would shout something at me in the street.

"I couldn’t leave the house by myself, because I was scared I’d get attacked or get shouted at. It was really difficult."

She continued: "Because I said I was from Middlesbrough, people used that as an excuse to say, “You’re bringing shame on this town.” Middlesbrough hasn’t got the best reputation anyway and I certainly didn’t create that.

"People would think, “Why does she get the opportunity to be on TV and the rest of us don’t?”

The new issue of New magazine is out now and cast members still to share their experiences on Geordie Shore include Gaz, Charlotte and Sophie Kasaei.
