Geordie Shore's Amelia Lily reveals why she joined show as she sends shock waves through cast

No-one could quite believe their eyes when X Factor star Amelia Lily walked through the doors of the Geordie Shore house to start filming last year, but no-one was more shocked at her joining the show than her.

The Middlesbrough-born singer shot to fame nine years ago when, at the age of just 17, she finished third on The X Factor, in the same year that Little Mix won the show.

Less than a year later she landed a huge hit with her debut single You Bring Me Joy and went onto support Girls Aloud on their Ten reunion tour.

After taking a break from the charts, Amelia forged a successful career in theatre, with starring roles in Shrek and American Idiot, but on Tuesday night she'll be stepping into the spotlight for a VERY different role as a Geordie Shore cast member as the show returns to MTV for its 21st series!

Like Amelia, Geordie Shore made its TV debut in 2011 and she is without a doubt its most surprising new addition to date.

But the now 25-year-old, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, told Chronicle Live she jumped at the chance to let her hair down.

"I never imagined I'd be on Geordie Shore! I'd always been in relationships from being 16, but I've been single for a while now so thought why not?

Geordie Shore new boy Louis Shaw is actually from Yorkshire

"I feel like, with being on X Factor and then everything that happened, I've missed out on a lot of things my friends take for granted. I never went to uni or anything. like that.

"Being on Geordie Shore is like re-living the youth I never really had!."

One of three new cast members for the new series, Amelia admitted that going into the house was even more nerve wracking than taking to The X Factor stage, saying: "I honestly thought I was going to be sick!

"It was the most nerve wracking experience I have ever felt in my life and the worst thing was that I could hear everyone else inside already.

"And knowing that I was going in, like after everyone else, I was just so scared. "

Geordie Shore Series 21 launches Tuesday, July 28 at 10pm on MTV
