Artist Sean Scully's latest exhibition is entitled "Between Heaven and Earth" – a space the artist conceives of as a journey between those two elements. As his paintings go on show at the Thaddeus Ropac gallery in Paris, he joins us to discuss how the sombre mood of the past year has left its mark on his artwork.
We also take a look at a group show at the Magasins Généraux cultural space in the Paris suburb of Pantin. It shines a light on the artists working on and around the Sahara, as Scully recalls his own journey to Morocco at the beginning of his career.
The artist also talks about his personal trajectory, from the Dublin of the 1940s to the New York contemporary art scene of the 1990s.
