Geoffrey Palmer tributes pour in following death of beloved As Time Goes By star

Tributes have poured in for actor Geoffrey Palmer following his death at the age of 93.

The agent for the As Time Goes By star confirmed the actor had died peacefully at home on Friday.

Palmer was best known for his performance alongside actress Dame Judi Dench in sitcom As Time Goes By, alongside appearances in the likes of Blackadder and Fawlty Towers.

He also appeared opposite Dench in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies and the Queen Victoria biopic Mrs Brown.

Recent on-screen appearances include guest roles in Doctor Who, a part in Paddington, and Madonna's Wallis Simpson biopic WE.

Faces from across the world of Showbiz have shared their love for the star on social media.

Director Edgar Wright tweeted: "The flight path gag wiping out the lines of Reggie Perrin’s brother in law is one of my favourite running gags in comedy. RIP to the brilliantly funny Geoffrey Palmer."

Actor Stuart Anthony penned on Twitter : "Very sad to hear that Geoffrey Palmer has passed away. What a fantastic actor and very charming man. Tons of new anecdotes every time we met."

Writer Jonathan Coe tweeted: "Really sorry to hear that Geoffrey Palmer has died. Maybe not the most famous thing on his CV, but he was a brilliant Thomas Winshaw in the Radio 4 adaptation of What a Carve Up.

"It was a thrill to meet him at the recordings. But this, of course, was his finest hour. RIP Jimmy."

Former EastEnders star and stage actress Jenna Russell tweeted: "Geoffrey Palmer, a beautiful actor and by all accounts a beautiful person. Our profession has lost one of its finest."

Finally, the official Doctor Who twitter page wrote: "We’re sad to report the death of Geoffrey Palmer, who starred in The Silurians, The Mutants and Voyage of the Damned".
