HoYoverse has confirmed that "Genshin Impact" Version 7.0 will officially launch next month, finally bringing players into Snezhnaya, the frozen homeland long teased since the game's earliest Archon Quest.
The update marks a major milestone for the series, opening up the seventh and final mainline nation on the map of Teyvat.
'Genshin Impact' 7.0 Update Is Coming Soon
HoYoverse confirmed the release date through the redemption code Snezhnaya20260812, which was handed out during the "To Snezhnaya and the Future" Special Program back on April 24, according to NotebookCheck's report.
Version 7.0 launches globally on August 12 for Europe, Asia, and TW/HK/MO servers, while North American servers will receive the update slightly earlier on August 11 due to time zone differences.
Notably, HoYoverse is skipping Version 6.8 entirely, moving directly from Version 6.7 into 7.0. That decision alone signals just how significant this update is meant to be, following the standard six-week patch cycle "Genshin Impact" has kept since launch.
Players can expect the usual pre-launch rhythm leading up to release, including a Special Program livestream roughly ten days before launch carrying free Primogem codes. It will also come along with early pre-installation and standard maintenance compensation once servers come back online.
'Genshin Impact' 7.0's Snezhnaya Nation
Snezhnaya is the frozen home of the Tsaritsa and the Fatui and has remained the most anticipated unreleased region since "Genshin Impact" first launched in 2020. As the seventh and final nation on Teyvat's map, its arrival pushes the game's broader Archon Quest storyline toward the fate of the six Gnoses collected so far, along with deeper insight into the Tsaritsa herself.
Unlike earlier regions, Snezhnaya is expected to break from some of the patterns players are used to, both narratively and structurally.
HoYoverse has also confirmed another increase to system requirements on both PC and mobile for this update, citing improved character models, new environment textures, and updated visual effects built specifically for the new region. This means that players with older hardware may want to check their specs for compatibility ahead of launch.
What to Expect From 'Genshin Impact' 7.0?
Three new playable characters are expected at launch, including Odette, Alyosha, and the Cryo Traveler.
Odette is a 5-star Cryo Sword user known as the Prima Ballerina of the Korolevskiy Troupe, a member of the Fatui by night and one of Snezhnaya's most sought-after dancers by day. Her kit is built around enabling the update's new Stellar Reactions system through a dance-based summon that applies off-field Cryo damage.
Alyosha rounds out the launch roster as a free 4-star Electro Polearm user who fights alongside his hunting hound, Tugarin. His kit centers on Hunting Marks, where landing a mark on an already marked enemy triggers a party-wide attack buff, while Tugarin's bite attacks double as both off-field damage and healing.
Beyond new characters, Version 7.0 introduces a new Cryo-focused Stellar Reactions combat system, additional Snezhnaya craftable weapons, a new Battle Pass weapon series, two new 5-star signature weapons, and new artifact sets.
Version 7.0 is shaping up to be one of the most substantial updates in the game's history.
