Genoa owner makes a telling comment on Qatari investment story at Leeds United

Genoa were the footnote in Saturday night’s extraordinary Financial Times report linking Qatar Sports Investments with Leeds United.

The Serie A outfit escaped relegation from Italy’s top flight through goal difference this month and would be the subject of a takeover bid from Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani, said the story.

The simple link made suggested the money invested into Elland Road by QSI would then be used by the Italian to take control at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

However, after United first distanced themselves from the story, Genoa’s current owner has also struck a blow to its accuracy.

Speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport , Enrico Preziosi said: "If there were to be someone who was more capable and had sufficient means, I would sell, but the story of the owner of Leeds is a hoax."

Radrizzani is heading into his third full season in charge at Elland Road with the Premier League still being chased.
