Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins certainly has the respect of his peers.
This week NFL Network revealed Atkins made the 2019 edition of the “The Top 100 Players of 2019,” placing at No. 79.
Atkins has been a mainstay on the list, making most of them since the show’s inception eight years ago. This year, 1,098 player ballots determined the order of the list, and the show airs six nights in a row before a top-10 reveal and aftermath special.
As for Atkins, this is business as usual. He went to a seventh Pro Bowl last year and had 10 sacks despite the dire state of things around him.
Atkins might end up being the only Bengals player who makes the list. A.J. Green has been ranked in the upper 20s in the past, but last year’s injury-riddled season makes it hard to tell whether he’ll make an appearance.
