Genius Scots paperboy tries to flog his round for hundreds of pounds

An enterprising Scots paperboy is trying to flog his round for hundreds of pounds - in a move that would make Del Boy blush.

The budding entrepreneur - who delivers to 64 customers in Kilwinning, Ayrshire - is looking for an eye-watering £500 to sell up.

The mystery youngster has even fly-posted his patch in a bid to find a prospective buyer.

And he insists that the only downside is that interested applicants  "must have a car or two people on bicycles"  as the round is approximately 20 miles from start to finish.

Del Boy from BBC comedy Only Fools and Horses was known for his, er, entrepreneurial spirit (BBC)

He lays out the finer details of his offer on the poster, conceding that the £500 asking price "may seem expensive."

But he insists the round is a money-spinner that will rake in £50 a week.

He goes on to claims it will pay for itself in one week alone in December - courtesy of £415 in Christmas tips.

And he confidently states: "You would get money back when you sell the paper round on"

An email address is even supplied for any interested parties to get in touch.

Colin Boyd, a local businessman and chairman of Junior football outfit Kilwinning Rangers, tweeted a picture of a poster he found strung to the fence at Kilwinning Sports Club.

He reckons the scheme is ingenious.

"I've spent 15 years in advertising and marketing and that's the first time in many years that I've walked back to read an ad," said Colin.

"It's simplicity is so so pure, the author explains the full business for sale on a A4 sheet.

"It's close to genius.

"If I wasn't a 43-year-old company director with two kids I'd have emailed for more details, even the email address is bang on the message."
