Forget family bags of crisps and soggy tasteless pizzas, as a brand new frozen snack brand has just gone on sale in supermarkets, that's been specifically designed to pair perfectly with craft beer.
From gooey gouda and mozzarella cheese bites to deep fried pickles and fiery jalapenos - and perhaps most importantly: the best halloumi fries we've ever seen - the mouth-watering new range is made up of nine equally as indulgent items.
Made by US food giants McCain , all of the hot snacks have been created to cater for the growing social eating trend and include recommendations of which types of beer to pair them with.
Much cheaper than a takeaway, the packs also aren't too badly priced, setting you back £2.79 per pack.
Already available in Tesco - where the whole range is currently on three for £6 - the new snacking range will soon be available across the likes of Asda , Sainsbury’s and Co-op with plans to roll out to convenience stores in future months.
If your cooking skills don't even extend to turning on the oven, you can also get them from a few independent bars, pubs and restaurants in the coming months.
The full, nine-range line-up includes:
- IPA Last Order Fries – Thin cut, skin on fries with a classic IPA batter – perfect with an IPA American Pale Ale
- Halloumi Fries – Chunky halloumi strips in a crispy light batter – perfect with a refreshing, ice - cold pale ale
- Mac ‘ N ’ Jack – A combo of Monterey Jack cheese and macaroni pasta, all wrapped up in a crispy IPA beer batter coating – perfect with a dry and intense Irish stout
- Potato Pint Pots – Mini barrels of crispy shredded potato – perfect with a smooth Pilsner larger
- Onion Straws – A twist on a favourite – easy to eat strips of onion coated in a crunchy black pepper crumb. Perfect with a peppery blonde beer
- Arancini Shots – A blend of risotto rice, tomato and mozzarella in a crispy herb coating. Perfect with a cooling, creamy Brown ale
- Fiery Jalapeño Bottle Caps – Small but mighty slices of red and green jalapenos in a tempura batter. Some are hot: some are not – great for drinkers who are up for a challenge. Perfect with a pint of craft / premium beer.
- Cheesy Brew Bites – A deliciously melting combination of gouda & mozzarella cheese in a crispy IPA beer batter. Perfect with a pint of hoppy red IPA
- Pickle Bar Fries – Dill pickle fries in a mustard coating – a big flavour hit that pairs brilliantly with a premium dry Blonde Beer
The snacks are all made by Brew City - a US frozen food brand from McCain that launched in the USA 20 years ago, nicknamed Brew City after exclusively supplying foodservice companies off the back of the explosion of craft beer in the US around the Michigan region.
