During the coronavirus lockdown friends have had to devise new ways in which to to socialise.
Neighbours in Queensland, Australia managed to devise a cunning way to commemorate a national holiday with some drinks – all while staying within the confines of their respective gardens.
Cory Beaman shared a video of their respective ingenuity on Anzac Day, when the neighbours flipped the fence between their homes into a makeshift bar counter which they could safely share drinks over while maintaining social distancing.
Anzac Day takes place on April 25th and due to the lockdown restrictions some celebrations had to be cancelled.
Anzac Day is a day of remembrance which honours Australians and New Zealanders who have served and died in conflicts.
It is celebrated on April 25 to commemorate the landing of the first Anzac forces in Gallipoli during the First World War.
Despite the strict lockdown measures, residents of Cumberland Drive in the Gold Coast were still able to interact without leaving their homes, thanks to this clever piece of DIY.
The moment the fence was converted into a makeshift pub was captured on camera by Cory Beaman, who subsequently uploaded the footage to TikTok.
Mr Beaman said, “My neighbours originally sent us a video of someone in Cairns who built their own [bar counter] and said that we should also do it. We thought that they were just joking.”
He added, “On Anzac Day, we got talking and thought, seeing as my family are Australian and our neighbours are Kiwi, that it would be a good idea to celebrate Anzac Day by building it and having a few beers on it.”
