A woman has been praised on TikTok for her ‘genius’ hack that will keep flies away from your wheelie bin as the weather heats up.
Ireland is due to be doused in sunshine once again this week, and with rising temperatures comes a jump in the number of flies and maggots around.
The flies are attracted to rubbish, which can make your bin smell worse. So working to keep them at bay for the warmer few days is a must.

The video was posted previously to the TikTok account under the username @sisterpledgecleans, showing the clever way in which she washes out her bins - and she says it keeps the flies at bay.
The woman uses a "generous amount of table salt" which has been hailed as a "genius" life hack and can be bought in large bottles from Aldi for as little as 44c.
In her viral video, she explained that the salt in the bottom of clean bins will soak up any leaked fluid and that flies and maggots will die quickly when they feed on it.
Thousands commented on the life hack, sharing their thoughts and thanking her for letting them know about it.
One person said: "Oh thank you!! Our black bin is full of flies, yet our compost/food bin isn't. Makes no sense," and another replied: "Add baking powder and it won't smell."
The video, which was shared last year, raked in over 400,000 likes and over 45,000 shares. One person added: "Tried it AND IT WORKS!!"
