Geneva is giving tourists a free gift card to spend on restaurants and museums

Geneva's tourism board is helping visitors make their holiday budget stretch a little further - by giving them free vouchers to spend in the city.

Visitors who check in to their hotel in the Swiss city will receive a Geneva Gift Card with CHF100 (approx £84) to spend on restaurants, bars, museums and other key attractions.

Think everything from a chocolate tour of the city (there's a reason Swiss chocolate is hailed as some of the best), to entry to the lakeside beach or tickets to heaps of the major museums.

There will be plenty to explore, not to mention you'll be surrounded by spectacular landscapes from the crystalline Lake Geneva waters to the epic Alps and Jura mountains - and the views of Mont Blanc.

Visitors will receive the Geneva Gift Card when they check-in to their hotel, provided the latter is participating in the scheme. There will be one voucher given per room.

To redeem, visitors simply need to present the card at the restaurant or attraction they're visiting, and the amount spent will be deducted from the card. (You can find the link to the full list of participating hotels and attractions below).

It's worth noting that the voucher is only valid if you're staying for at least two nights in the city.

Still, there's quite a generous window for visitors to enjoy the offer, as the vouchers can be used until the 31st December 2020.

As for travelling during the pandemic? Currently the FCO does not advise against travel to Switzerland - however with the volatile nature of the pandemic, make sure to check the latest FCO Switzerland advice before planning/booking a trip and before you travel.

You can see the full list of participating hotels, restaurants and attractions, and the full terms and conditions on the Geneva Tourism website.
