April 29--Geneva District 304 officials have appointed new Heartland and Harrison Street elementary school principals to replace the two current principals. Both will step up to leadership positions next school year.
Brenna Westerhoff, Harrison Street's student assistance coordinator, will become the school's new principal starting July 1, officials said in a news release. She has worked at Geneva 304 for 13 years and has experience in teaching, leading and technology integration, officials said.
She is replacing principal Shonette Sims, who will become the new director of learning and teaching for the district.
Westerhoff's salary was recommended at $93,500, officials said.
Kimberly Hornberg, principal at North Elementary School in Crystal Lake District 47, will become the new principal at Heartland starting July 1. She has almost 15 years of experience in educational leadership, and played a major role in North Elementary's full-day kindergarten implementation and new teacher evaluation plan, officials said.
She is replacing Heartland principal Adam Law, who will become Geneva 304's new assistant superintendent of human resources.
Hornberg's salary was recommended at $111,370, officials said.
