Jan. 19--A Geneva-area man was charged Monday after Kane County sheriff's police said he fired a handgun after a weekend argument with a family member.
Andrew Deliman, 41, was charged after reports of a domestic disturbance about 6:45 p.m. Sunday at his home in the 0 N 600 block of Keenan Drive in an unincorporated area near Geneva.
Police said Deliman and a female family member had gotten into an argument over a wrestling match involving Deliman and the woman's teenage son.
Police said Deliman shoved the woman before she and everyone else left the residence. Police said Deliman, who at that point was the only one inside, went to a safe, obtained a handgun and then fired a round. Police said they do not think he aimed the gun at anyone.
When officers arrived, Deliman refused to come outside, police said. Later, deputies were able to enter the home and take him into custody without incident, sheriff's police said.
He was transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for evaluation before he was taken to Kane County Jail. Deliman was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and three counts of domestic battery, police said.
