Genesis Personnel wins £3.2 million contract to supply Calmac with temporary staff

Aberdeen-based Genesis Personnel has secured a four-year contract, worth around £3.2m, to supply Calmac Ferries with temporary staff.

It won the contract by supplying temporary seafaring staff for parent company David MacBrayne HR.

The arrangement will begin from 1 July this year.

CalMac runs 33 vessels across 50 ports, carrying more than 5m passengers and almost 1.5m cars throughout the network.

David MacBrayne provides the HR services for more than 850 seagoing personnel throughout the year, with increased requirements throughout the summer.

Genesis Personnel will provide temporary seafarers across the fleet, operating across 200 miles of Scotland’s West Coast.

The contract will be run by a team drawn from the current headcount of 12 staff.

Christine Roberts, HR director for CalMac, said: “Following a successful tender process, Genesis will be supporting CalMac with its resourcing needs and we look forward to working with them.”

Genesis Personnel managing director Wendy Marr added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded this contract, which underlines our commitment and understanding of the marine sector.”
