Generous schoolgirl donating 35cm of her hair to The Little Princess Trust

A kind-hearted schoolgirl is donating her hair to charity.

Orla McGrotty will be cutting off an incredible 14 inches (35 centimetres) of her hair for The Little Princess Trust.

The nine-year-old will then send her hair off to charity which makes real hair wigs for children and young people up to the age of 24, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

As well the donation, Orla from Paisley is also fundraising the money it costs to make the wig and has so far smashed her initial target of £200.

Generous friends and family have already helped her raise £840 but she's looking to raise as much money as possible before she gets the chop on August 22.

Orla's dad Craig and mum Roisin, explained: "Orla has wanted to cut her hair shorter for a while but didn’t want it to go to waste after how long she had been growing it.

"After mentioning that there are charities who can use hair to make wigs for people who have lost their hair through illness or disease Orla’s heart was set on donating her hair to a charity that would “help make a little girl’s dream come true by giving them their hair back and make them smile so they can be happy.”

"She decided on donating 14” of hair after seeing that the Little Princess Trust’s minimum donation length was 7” but they were encouraging donations over 12” in length to be able to provide long hair wigs to those who needed them."
