Generous locals raise almost £1k to replace damaged flagpole at Falkirk War Memorial

A GoFundMe page has been set up to replace a flagpole which was damaged at a Falkirk War Memorial, with almost £1,000 raised by generous locals so far.

Cops have started a probe after the incident at Carronshore War Memorial between Kincardine Road and Carronshore Road over the weekend.

It's believed to have happened between 10pm on Saturday April 17, and 8.15am on Sunday April 18.

The pole had a Union Jack flag attached to it.

Constable Graeme Brown, of Larbert Police station, said: "I am sure members of the community will be extremely disappointed by this mindless act of vandalism.

"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and I am appealing to anyone who may have any information in connection to come forward.

"If you live in the area and have CCTV or were driving at the time and have a dash-cam, please check back and see if there is any footage that could assist our investigation.

"Those with information can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0946 of 18 April, or if they wish to remain anonymous, can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
