One of the most ludicrously overhyped companies of the 1990s has finally decided to call it a day. General Magic developed Magic Cap, a terminally cute graphical operating system for handhelds. With cutting edge technology, a big market trend towards mobile computing, staff out of Apple (including Bill Atkinson and Andy Hertzfeld) and the backing of Sony (not to mention Apple, AT&T, Matsushita, Motorola and Philips), it could not possibly fail.
