A record number of female MPs have been voted into the House of Commons following yesterday's General election.
Of the 650 seats in the Commons, 220 will be occupied by female politicans.
This is in spite of there being no female candidates in 11% of seats across the UK.
And, contributing significantly to the record figure, 10 female politicians have been voted into seats across the Greater Glasgow area, 55% of the 18 constituencies in the region.
The all SNP MPs include:
- Alison Thewliss - Glasgow Central
- Anne McLaughlin - Glasgow North East
- Carol Monaghan - Glasgow North West
- Amy Callaghan - Dunbartonshire East
- Dr Lisa Cameron - East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow
- Kirsten Oswald - Renfrewshire East
- Angela Crawley - Lanark and Hamilton East
- Marion Fellows - Motherwell and Wishaw
- Mhairi Black - Paisley and Renfrewshire South
- Margaret Ferrier - Rutherglen and Hamilton West
The male MPs, again all SNP, elected in Greater Glasgow are:
- David Linden - Glasgow East
- Patrick Grady - Glasgow North
- Stewart McDonald - Glasgow South
- Chris Stephens - Glasgow South West
- Patrick Docherty - Dunbartonshire West
- Stuart McDonald - Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East
- Steven Bonnar - Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill
Gavin Newlands - Paisley and Renfrewshire North
