General Election exit poll predicts Leeds North West seat 'too close to call'

One of the eight Leeds seats in the General Election 2019 has been dubbed 'too close to call' in the exit poll.

Announced at 10pm tonight, the poll predicted a shock 86-seat landslide victory for Boris Johnson - a huge gain of 54 - come the early hours of this morning when all votes have been counted.

If it happens, this will mean a large majority for the Conservatives, and their biggest chance to push Brexit through in the next month.

Interestingly, the BBC's local exit poll calculator predicts Leeds North West as one seat that is 'too close to call'.

This could mean Alex Sobel, who has held the seat since 2017, will be one of the Labour casualties on a historic night for the party for all the wrong reasons.

Leeds North West covers areas like Otley, Headingley and a part of Hyde Park.

The exit poll forecasts a 64 per cent chance that he will hold, but a 36 per cent chance that the Lib Dems - who previously held the seat - will take the victory for Leeds North West.

Exit polls have been relatively accurate in recent elections, but are not guaranteed.
