General Election exit poll: Conservatives set for crushing victory over Labour

Boris Johnson and the Conservatives are facing a landslide victory in the 2019 General Election, according to the exit polls.

The party is looking at an 86 seat majority, the biggest Tory win since Margaret Thatcher in 1987.

Jeremy Corbyn will face widespread calls to quit after four-and a-half years in which he almost tripled Labour's membership.

But the Labour Party's shift to the left under his tenure may have alienated some traditional Labour voters in Brexit heartlands.

With the SNP set to take 55 out of 59 seats in Scotland, things look bad for Jo Swinson.

Her Liberal Democrats are predicted to win just 13 seats UK-wide, Plaid Cymru three, the Green Party one seat and others 19.

It is Jeremy Corbyn's Labour who will be smarting the most, after an apparently successful Tory campaign targeting marginal Labour seats.
