General election debates announced

The non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates today released the schedule, format and eligibility criteria for next year's presidential debates among the candidates in the November 2008 general election. Read more...

The schedule: First presidential debate, on domestic policy: Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS

Vice presidential debate: Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 Washington University in St. Louis, MO

Second presidential debate, town hall format Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 Belmont University, Nashville, TN

Third presidential debate, on foreign policy: Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY

The debates will include any candidate who polls greater than 15 % in national polls, and is on the ballot in enough states to give a mathetical possibility of winning a majority of electoral votes. Here are the details.
