Over the last few weeks we’ve asked you what you would like to see the political parties set out for the third sector. Here are some of the highlights.
1. Funding for the future, allowing charities to plan for theirs.
@GdnVoluntary #GVSNvote sustainable funding commitments allowing sustainable, planning ensuring national outcomes via specialised services.
— Heather (@hrussell__) April 1, 2015
2. Respect and recognition for what the sector does.
@GdnVoluntary don't even get me started, we're still seen as an add on, rather than in some cases the only service provider
— Rita Chadha (@RitsChadha) March 15, 2015
3. Politicians to have a greater sense of localism when forming policy.
@GdnVoluntary #gvsnvote real localism
— disability action wf (@eqdawf) March 15, 2015
4. Stop working in silos and have more collaboration across sectors.
For departments to work more in collaboration, so that we as a sector, don't get passed side-to-side and can focus our resources #GVSNvote
— Jatin Patel (@JatTel) March 30, 2015
5. Politicians to listen to the voices of smaller charities, rather than just focusing on the bigger ones.
@GdnVoluntary Politicians to understand what "small" actually means for #smallcharities and assist with more localism opps & voice #GVSNvote

6. As expected, the Lobbying Act featured in your replies:
Not novel, but repealing the Lobbying Act. Increase for Commission budget, too. + capacity building/training re PBR #GVSNvote @GdnVoluntary
— Leon Ward (@LeonjWard) March 30, 2015
7. Many of your responses highlighted the challenges charities have faced during austerity:
@GdnVoluntary review of the abolishment of legal aid for many civil law cases, and consequently the lack of access to justice for many.
— Hayley Hughes (@miss_hahu) March 13, 2015
8. Others feel there needs to be greater job security and better working conditions for charity professionals.
@GdnVoluntary @GMLivingWage @LivingWageUK still where it's at for me within fair employment charter #GVSNvote #GE2015 #charity
— Ben Gilchrist (@bengilchrist) March 30, 2015
9. Some want the sector’s regulator to be reviewed.
Oh and @GdnVoluntary I think Govt needs to rescind some Commission board powers. Far too 'executive' (and politicised!) #GVSNvote
— Leon Ward (@LeonjWard) March 31, 2015
10. And some of you felt that the sector is tackling so many issues, a tweet just wasn’t going to cut it:
@GdnVoluntary do you seriously think we can answer this in one short tweet?
