General Election 2019: Ian Murray attacks Jeremy Corbyn as polls predict Labour losses

Ian Murray, who is running for re-election in Edinburgh South, has attacked Jeremy Corbyn as polls predict a dismal night for Labour.

As the votes were counted for the 2019 general election, Murray hit out at his party leader.

The exit poll released at 10pm pointed to a landslide win for the Conservatives and big gains for the SNP

While the final result is yet to be announced, Edinburgh Live understands Murray is likely to hold on to his seat.

However the party is unlikely to make gains elsewhere in the capital or the Lothians.

He tweeted: "Every door I knocked on, and my team and I spoke to 11,000 people, mentioned Corbyn. Not Brexit but Corbyn.

"I’ve been saying this for years. The outcome is that we’ve let the country down and we must change course and fast."
