So after days, months of political campaigning, the day of the General Election is almost here.
Tomorrow (December 12) millions of people will turn out to vote.
Here is our low-down on what to do and expect.
When is the general election?
The general election will take place on Thursday, December 12 with polls open from 7am to 10pm.
When will we know the results of the general election?
The votes from each constituency will be counted throughout the night and we should get an overall election result and the winners in the early hours of Friday, December 13.
Am I eligible to vote?
You have to be aged 18 on polling day to vote. You have to be a UK or eligible Commonwealth citizen who is on the electoral register.
Can someone vote on my behalf?
Individuals can only ask someone else to vote on their behalf if they are away on polling day, have a medical issue or are unable to vote due to work or military service. A person must be registered to vote before they can apply for a proxy vote.
