The General Directorate of Prisons in Taif released on Monday the first batch of prisoners, who were proven to be insolvent, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
Their release was made at the orders of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The order was made in wake of a visit paid by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to Taif.
Director of the General Department of Prisons, Lieutenant Colonel Saeed bin Saleh Al-Ajab expressed his gratitude to King Salman for his royal and humanitarian gesture
The prisoners and their relatives also voiced their their deep gratitude to King Salman for his kind gesture.
