It’s not the end of the road, but KISS’s ongoing farewell tour is taking a break.
Gene Simmons, the bassist and co-lead singer of the legendary rock band, has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the group to postpone its next four tour dates.
The 72-year-old rock superstar is the second KISS member to announce he had become infected with the deadly coronavirus.
Last week, fellow co-founder Paul Stanley, 69, said on Twitter that he “had been sick with flu-like symptoms and was tested repeatedly and was negative,” but tested positive on Thursday afternoon.
Simmons diagnosis was shared by the band on Tuesday. He is experiencing “mild symptoms,” KISS said in a statement posted on its website and shared on social media.
“The band and crew will remain at home and isolate for the next 10 days and doctors have indicated the tour should be able to resume on September 9th at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA,” the statement read in part.
After Stanley’s announcement last week, the “Lick It Up” band was forced to cancel Thursday’s leg of the “KISS: End of the World Tour” in Pennsylvania.
After Tuesday’s announcement, performances in Clarkston, Michigan; Dayton, Ohio; Tinley Park, Illinois, and Milwaukee also had to be postponed.
“All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates once announced. More information will be emailed to ticketholders directly,” the band said.
