Gen Z named Britain's messiest eaters as study reveals attitude shift

Gen Z are the messiest eaters, according to a new study.

The way we eat is shaped by cultural norms, with manners and dining etiquette shifting over time.

Attitudes around messy eating may have changed, with Gen Zers ditching the napkins — according to new reseach by Uber Eats.

The survey, conducted by OnePoll, found that 74 per cent of Gen Z have spilled food or drink at a big event such as a wedding or a first date, compared to just 32 per cent of Boomers.

A staggering 64 per cent of Gen Zers admit to having worn food stained clothes outside the house, while 62 per cent of Gen Zers have ruined a brand new outfit within minutes of buying it.

The study, which involved 2,000 UK adults, found that tomato sauces, soups, oil and gravy were identified as the biggest culprits for stains.

T-shirts, shirts, jumpers, trousers and jeans were identified as the most stained items. One in fifty said they’d even ruined a pair of socks due to a spill.

Uber Eats and Rosa’s Thai have decided to embrace Gen Z’s messy eating habits with a new limited edition t-shirt collection, designed in collaboration with illustrator Justine Jossart.

It’s exclusively available when ordering a Rosa’s Red Hot Thai Classic bundle via Uber Eats at selected Rosa’s restaurants, including Norwich, Edinburgh, York, Liverpool, Exeter, Greenwich, Hackney and Tooting.

Saiphin Moore, Founder of Rosa’s Thai, said: “At Rosa’s, we say embrace the mess! A splash or two is a sign of a great meal.”
