Gemma Owen reveals she is to return to old job after Love Island success

Gemma Owen has no plans on giving up on her dressage dreams following her success on Love Island.

The 19-year-old daughter of former footballer Michael Owen was a hit on the reality dating series, finishing second alongside Luca Bish.

Since the show, she has made her relationship with fishmonger Luca, 23, official, and signed big-figure deals. However, she has revealed she still wants to compete on the international dressage stage and will soon be back on her horse.

The brunette beauty took to Instagram on Tuesday evening to hold a short Q&A with her 2.1 million followers. The interaction saw one fan ask if she has plans to return to the dressage scene.

She replied: "The short answer is yes, I’m definitely going to be carrying on competing. At the moment things are obviously still up in the air so I can’t wait to get back into a normal routine but it’s something I’ve been training in forever so I’m not going to stop."

She continued: "With my riding I'd love to carry on riding internationally again."

The star has made no secret of her love of horses and riding competitively. Shortly after returning home, Gemma introduced Luca to her horse Sirius as she showed off her riding skills to her beau at her £3 million family mansion.

Gemma also shared the video on her TikTok as she put the animal through its paces. She captioned the post: "Not at all rider fit yet but loving being back."

A remix of Nico & Vinz's 2013 track, Am I Wrong, played in the background and Luca could be seen at the end posing with the animal. It comes after Gemma had uploaded a snap of the pair and her horse alongside the caption: "New bromance."

Later on in Tuesday's Q&A, Gemma also shed light on her other ventures when things settle down following her stint in the Majorcan villa.

She explained: "I’d love to scale up my business and maybe get some help and an investor, and with this side of things look at TV opportunities, continue working with brands and just grow."

And she revealed she has a number of exciting projects coming up in the next few weeks, including an edit with Pretty Little Things.
