Gemma Owen pokes fun at dad Michael's acting skills as they star in new Amazon Prime advert

Gemma and Michael Owen have teamed up to make their acting debut in an advert that fans have branded “hilarious”.

The 19-year-old Love Island runner-up and her famous dad star together in the new Amazon Prime advert, in an amusing sketch teasing that Gemma’s newfound fame has led to her becoming a “bigger deal” than Michael. It has been a big year for former dressage champion Gemma, who landed a six-figure deal with fashion giant PrettyLittleThing in August .

The Prime advert shows football legend Michael polishing his Golden Boot awards when the doorbell rings. As he answers the door, a delivery driver holding Amazon packages tells him: “I’ve got a package for the boss - the big deal of the house.”

As Michael reaches out to take the packages, Gemma appears behind him and asks, “Is that for me?” She thanks the delivery driver as she is handed the packages and disappears back into the house, leaving her dad dumbfounded as the driver shrugs and adds: “Well, she is a big deal.”

A clip at the end of the ad shows Michael speaking to the driver as if behind the scenes, complaining: “I mean, I’ve been in the industry twenty-five years - she’s only been in it two months! I’m clearly the big deal!”

Gemma shared the advert with her two million followers on Instagram, along with the caption: “Our acting skills definitely aren’t a big deal” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Fans were quick to comment on the advert, with one praising it as “absolutely brilliant” while another branded it “the funniest thing ever”. A third follower added: “The fact that this is actually the reality and not acting, love it.”

“All parents go through this!” another viewer remarked along with laughing emojis. “Poor Michael.”
