Gemma Greene appears in court over alleged M50 high-speed garda chase

A woman who allegedly led gardai on a high-speed chase through Dublin and Wicklow has appeared in court - charged with dangerous driving.

Gemma Greene, 24, of Bunratty Road, Coolock, appeared before Judge Treasa Kelly at Dublin’s District Court on Thursday.

Ms Greene is charged with two counts of dangerous driving - at Junction 4 on the M50 Northbound and again at Junction 9 on Monday, March 1.

She appeared in court today even though she does not have to in a first appearance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gardai told the court there is CCTV of the alleged incident and that they are seeking another court date as a file is still going to the DPP.

Ms Greene attended court but gardai present told the judge she should not be there as she has just returned from Spain and should be in quarantine - and is awaiting a Covid-19 test.

Judge Kelly then told Ms Greene, who had just entered the court room at that moment, to leave the court.

Gardai told the Judge that Ms Greene had returned from Spain on March 15, and that she should be in quarantine until March 29.

Ms Greene was then remanded on continuing bail until next Monday, March 29, where she will then appear before the court again.
