Gemma Collins has been left "terrified" after a stalker sent her rat poison in the post, forcing her to up the security measures of her Essex home.

The TOWIE star, 44, is said to have been left shaken by the toxic package, which was delivered just weeks after she received a threatening letter from a stalker.

A "glittery" note containing a poison pen message was also reportedly sent alongside the rat poison, and both pieces of evidence have now been handed to police.

A source told The Sun: "The package was really scary and she was terrified to receive it.

"It was delivered by the postman, but had no postage stamp on it. Gemma was worried as it contained rat poison, especially as she has animals at her home."

The incident emerged just two weeks after an "abusive and menacing" letter was sent to Gemma's home by a stalker.

An insider close to the star, who found fame on The Only Way Is Essex, said the letter writer described his hatred for Gemma and that he would track her down.

The source said: "Gemma was left shaken and very scared for her safety after she received a threatening and abusive letter from a man expressing his extreme dislike for her and using menacing language.

"It was really nasty and made reference to tracking her down, so she called the police straight away.

"It was alarming that this man knew her home address, but she already upped security and has round-the-clock guard dogs and has cameras onsite.

"She is always incredibly friendly with all her fans and happy to stop for pictures and a chat so to have someone send such an unpleasant letter has really shocked her."

A police investigation is now under way and the source added that Gemma is thankful that the threat is being taken seriously.
