Gemma Collins has stepped in to offer support to her ex James Argent, after he went public with his fears for his health.
The move came after the former Towie star was spoiled with a huge balloon display by her longtime on/off boyfriend, to celebrate her 40th birthday on Sunday.
During her lockdown celebrations, Gemma publicly thanked Arg for the extravagant gift on her Instagram, writing: "Thank you Arg for the lovely balloons".
Now Gemma is in turn reaching out to the 33-year-old, offering support following his admission last week that he now weighs 26stone and has an eating disorder.
A source told Heat magazine: "Gem is terrified of losing anyone close to her right now. With her father so unwell then Arg saying he could die because of his weight, it has pushed her over the edge.
"She will always love Arg and wants to help him as much as she can, even though they've had such a rocky relationship and are no longer officially together."
Gemma, whose dad Alan has now returned home following his hospitalisation with coronavirus, is said to have done her bit to help by asking mutual friends including Mark Wright to reach out to Arg.
Former hospital DJ turned reality star Arg appeared on Loose Women a week ago to talk about his desire to get a gastric band.
Arg said: "It is difficult because it a huge operation, it is a very intense and serious one.
"It is nothing to be taken lightly but I know if I really work hard, like I have done many many times before, I can get the weight off but it is maintaining it."
He added: "I feel that once I have my weight sorted then the sky is the limit for me.
"Once I tackle this then I have got a real positive future ahead of me."
He and Gemma had a bitter breakup last July, just the latest breakup for the longtime on/off pair.
