Gemma Collins slammed for promoting 'dangerous' weight loss injections

Gemma Collins has come under fire for promoting "dangerous" weight loss injections.

The former TOWIE star, 39, posted before and after shots of her reported three stone weight loss on Instagram, crediting it to taking Skinny Jabs.

But the GC was criticised for promoting the controversial slimming tool to her followers.

Skinny Jabs cost up to £350 for a four week programme and are meant to suppress appetitie, regulate blood sugar levels and help the body to turn fat into energy.

The jabs contain the ingredient liraglutide, which carries risks of possible thyroid tumors, including cancer, pancreatits, low blood pressure, blurred vision, dizziness, slurred speech and hunger, gallbladder problems, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, and constipation, vomiting, severe rashes, swelling of the face, lips and tongue as well as problems breathing and a fast heartbeat.

But that didn't stop Gemma from crediting the jabs for her recent weight loss.

She wrote: "Lots of you been asking me how I am looking so good, I need to tell about how amazing the team at Skinny Jab have been throughout lockdown."

Gemma added: "Keeping on track of my weight loss and continuing to stay motivated has never been easier with skinny jab on board."

The reality TV regular finished with the hashtag #ad which reveals she was paid to plug the weight loss injection.

Gemma's PR team TM Media also does press for Skinny Jab.

The post was heavily criticised by her followers.

One commented: "No no no. Please please don’t advocate that young girls and woman need to inject themselves to lose weight and be accepted. This is dangerous."

"Wow Gemma you promote this with your platform ... Shame that," another posted.

A third said: "I can't believe you're advocating injecting yourself to lose weight!! You have a responsibility to the young girls who follow you..... eat less, exercise more."

Another agreed: "No please you have always promoted body positivity ... if u want to lose weight good on you but please continue with your positive and sensible approach. Skinny jabs are not the way!!!!"

Gemma's reps declined to comment.

A spokesman for Skinny Jab said: "Skinnyjab is a prescription drug licenced for weight loss.

"Thousands of women like Gemma have found the Skinnyjab programme the perfect kick start. All our patients enjoy a comprehensive programme of support including diet, exercise and mental well being. "
