Gemma Collins breaks cover as beloved dad fights for his life in hospital

Gemma Collins has been seen out and about for the first time since sharing her heartbreaking concern over her dad.

Dad Alan has been "literally fighting for his life" in hospital following a positive coronavirus test.

And Gemma's usually bubbly social media personality has been put to the side as she takes to Instagram to issue stark warnings to fans over the harsh realities of the pandemic.

TOWIE star Gemma was spotted in Essex yesterday, carrying a take-away coffee in the street to chase away the winter cold, and wearing an athletic combo of gym leggings and a padded work-out top.

She recently opened up about her renewed commitment to her workout regime amid reports she managed to shed a staggering three stone in 2020.

Using exercise to "stay positive", Gemma penned a heartfelt post about "self love" alongside a snap of herself out on a run.

She's been unusually quiet on social media in recent weeks after making a heartfelt plea to her followers to stick to government rules around the coronavirus.

"It has been just the most awful Christmas and New Year for me," she said on her BBC Sounds podcast.

"I am not going to dwell on it. Both of my parents have had Covid.

"My dad is still in hospital now. He's literally been fighting for his life."

Sharing her parents' diagnosis just before Christmas, Gemma wrote: "Please please please take notice of the guidelines !

She thanked NHS 'beyond wonderful' NHS doctors and nurses (gemmacollins/Instagram)

"Both my parents are extremely unwell with Covid 19 ! Seeing my dad cry which he never does ! Was a shock and say he would rather be dead then experience everything he is going through right now... this has totally wiped him out and it’s heartbreaking.

"My mum also is extremely extremely unwell with Covid also, this is real ! And please please take notice and keep your loved ones SAFE.

"It really is petrifying. What a difference a year makes .... STAY HOME !!! STAY SAFE !!! SAVE LIVES without your health !!! You got nothing !!!!"

And in a tribute to the NHS staff taking care of her dad, she branded "beyond wonderful" doctors and nurses "heroes."
