Gemma Collins has revealed the secret way she was able to work out who was “selling stories on her” as she rose to fame.
The reality star shot into the limelight on ITV’s The Only Way Is Essex and has confessed that she soon realised she needed to work out who she could trust as stories hit the headlines about her.
Chatting to the Loose Women on Monday, Collins explained that she once devised a plan to trap her friends in the act and work out who she couldn’t trust by keeping a track of who she told things to.
Collins said: “I mean, I've had to get rid of friends out of my circle for selling stories and that was really sad for me, because they do get contacted, they get tempted with money.
“I used to keep a notebook [of what I told people], then I knew if that got out, that’s the person selling the stories.”
The 38-year-old, who was voted out of Dancing On Ice last weekend, then said that she would “confront” that person and “block and delete” them.
Collins is no stranger to blasting people for “selling stories”, with the reality star having a go at Jason Gardiner live on air last month.
The Australian judge was less than impressed with Collins’ skating, but Collins hit back by accusing him of causing her upset during the week by speaking to the media about her.
She ranted: “Can I just say one thing? Maybe if you didn’t sell stories on me, maybe I wouldn’t have been so upset this week. So take that. Boring. Next.
“Don’t sell stories on me. Don’t sell stories on me. Please don’t sell stories on me,” she added.
On Sunday night, Collins was booted out of the ITV competition after a skate-off against cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.
Collins admitted to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that it was “time to bow out gracefully”, taking her exit in her stride.
