Gemma Collins’ tough week continued after her mum was rushed to hospital with pneumonia, days after her alleged split from James Argent.
The reality star was left distressed after her mum Joan Collins was taken to hospital after falling ill as Gemma was away filming a cameo on The Real Housewives of Cheshire.
Gemma announced the news on Instagram with a selfie of the lookalike pair alongside the caption: “My poor mummy in hospital with pneumonia coming home @joancollins1 to be right by your side. I love you. #itsnotbeenagoodweek.”
Collins was left devastated by the sudden turn of events, which were “really scary” for the star.
“Gemma is absolutely distraught,” a source told The Sun: “Her mum has been ill for some time but it has taken a real turn in the last day or two and and she has been taken to hospital which has been scary for Gemma, let alone Joan.”
The insider added that Collins was determined to “be there for her mum” but was processing the shock news alongside dealing with her painful split from Arg.
“It has been a terrible week for her and she is devastated by everything which has happened,” they said.
Earlier this week, it was rumoured that Collins had called time on her on-off relationship with Arg after he left her feeling “humiliated” when he shared a video of her snoring.
Despite the reality star deleting the post an hour later, reports claim that Collins kicked him out of their Essex home which resulted in Arg bombarding her with abusive texts.
According to The Sun, Arg, 31, called his ex-girlfriend a “fat joke” and branded her an “absolute car crash”.
In a stinging tirade, he allegedly wrote: “You fat horrible lump. Nasty mean woman. Who the f*** do you think you are? You’ve got more rolls than Greggs.”
Collins, who appeared on the most recent series of Dancing On Ice, was later spotted out and about in Cheshire celebrating friend Dawn Ward’s daughter’s birthday.
