Gemma Collins forced to 'cut back' and turn heating off amid cost-of-living crisis

Gemma Collins has revealed she's had to turn off her heating and "cut back" because of the current cost-of-living crisis.

The millionaire former TOWIE star, 41, recently splashed out £1.3 million on her dream property, but says she now has to be careful about her spending as the country faces spiralling costs.

Speaking on her GC podcast, the reality TV star said: "The cost of living crisis, yes I have the news on, I try not to but I said I'm going to spend October and November trying to make sensible cutbacks because if you look after the pennies they look after you.

"I have done something with every meal time, I go into my cupboards and make some serious cutbacks like everyone else. It is scary, mortgages are going up, electrics going up."

She continued: "I'm telling everyone not to put the heating on in my house. I'm making sure every lights are off, I normally have every TV switched on in the room - not necessarily watching something, but I'd have TV on in one room, music on in the other, but I've really been mindful to cut back on all of that."

Gemma also explained she's started growing her own fruit and vegetables in a bit to stop "wasting money" and revealed a tip her dad gave her to save some money.

"My dad came round and told me to cut it off at the plug," she said. "I've been really mindful to cut back on electricity. I told Rami if he leaves the light on, it's just not good.

"I said 'Ram, we need to be serious, we've got to be saving energy'."

She went on to reveal how she felt "so far removed from the GC" and joked she was like an "eco-warrior".

Her revelations come as she revealed she'd spend over £90,000 on a brand new Land Rover Defender. She proudly showed off her new wheels on Instagram earlier this month as she gushed over her local car dealership.

Gemma, who famously used to be a car dealer, shared a picture of herself posing next to the high-sepc new Armoured Edition D300 Defender outside the Essex Car Group. The car is currently on the company's website listed for £96,995.

She captioned the post: "Would never buy a car from anyone else. @theessexcargroup @armourededition your service is first class professional and fun I love you guys."
