Gemma Collins 'fancied' axed SAS host Ant Middleton and was gutted to find out he's married

Gemma Collins had her dreams crushed when she found out sacked SAS: Who Dares Wins host Ant Middleton was married.

The former TOWIE girl, 40, laid eyes on the ex-Special Forces soldier at Essex nightclub Sugar Hut back in 2015.

The reality TV gem decided to pluck up the courage to talk to him.

But unfortunately Gemma's fantasy was short-lived when she realised the controversial host, who was axed from the Channel 4 series this week, did indeed have a wife.

Recalling the night out after recent news of Ant's sacking, she told The Sun : "Ant is absolutely gorgeous.

"He's the perfect guy but he told me he was married. I'd love to be friends with him and his wife."

Since the night out, Gemma is now back with her on-off boyfriend James Argent after they had an explosive break-up last year.

Meanwhile, The Mirror exclusively revealed how Ant lost his place as a host on the reality series.

The TV channel later released a statement saying Ant's personal conduct was the sole reason he is leaving the show.

Ant had admitted that he made inappropriate comments on the show - but claimed that it was purely "military banter" in an explosive interview on Good Morning Britain earlier this week.

The interview came after The Mirror told how concerns were raised by crew members with makers Minnow Films and Channel 4 during an end of year review where they were allowed to speak anonymously.

They said he had made "inappropriate comments" towards them.

However, a spokesman for Ant had refuted the allegations, claiming that he is "always disciplined and utterly professional".

In a new statement released to The Mirror on Wednesday, a Channel 4 Spokesman said: "Our decision not to renew Ant Middleton's contract and not to work with him again was solely based on his personal conduct off-camera and is not related to his on-screen persona as a DS.

"SAS: Who Dares Wins will continue to be as tough as it's ever been."
