Gemma Collins' extravagant birthday celebrations on locked down 40th birthday

Gemma Collins marked her big birthday in style with a massive balloon display as she announced she has now 'graced this earth for 40 years!'.

The playful TOWIE star celebrated the milestone with her mum and dad at home on Sunday.

It was never going to be a low key day despite lockdown and she plans to scoff a ton of cake with Alan, 73, after he was released from hospital.

The GC showed her two million Instagram followers the incredible pink balloons dominating her front room.

"I'm so overwhelmed with the gifts, flowers and everything being sent!" she wrote. "Thank you!"

The display included a huge pair of lips, a bottle of bubbly and some massive 'GC 40' statement balloons.

Earlier, the reality star shared a video of some of her best bits.

She teased: "I have GRACED this EARTH for 40 years! Thank you to everyone who is making videos of me."

Stars Keith Lemon and Billie Faiers rushed to wish her a happy birthday.

It's a double celebration after Alan left hospital last week following a scary month-long battle with Covid-19.

It means Gemma can enjoy the day properly with the family currently living together.

She has ordered herself loads cake and plans to have a sugar overload later today after a desperate five weeks.

Alan is out of trouble after saying he would 'rather die' than be as ill as he was.

Speaking on her BBC podcast, Gemma said: "My dad is home this week, so it's the best birthday I could wish for.

"Yes, I can’t have the party that was planned. I had arranged so many singers to come to a venue I booked last year.

"That's not going to happen but it doesn’t matter because my dad has survived Covid.

"It ripped through my family and it was so heartbreaking. It was so heartbreaking to see my dad fighting for his life."

She then spoke about her plans for Sunday – and it involves a lot of eating!

"I've ordered myself a huge cake," she said.

"The fact that I can sit with my dad eating cake on my birthday is absolutely priceless.

"I've ordered three large French fancies. They are my favourite cake in the whole wide world, and Battenberg."
